Tournament Officials
   
 

Tournament Director:

  • Responsible to Judo Queensland for the successful administration of an event
  • All other staff and officials are answerable to him/her. The only area he/she may not pass judgment on is the technical side of refereeing.

Referee in charge:

  • Responsible to Judo Queensland
  • Will be responsible for all aspects of refereeing at the competition.

Referees/Judges:

  • Responsible to the Referee in Charge
  • Ideally they will work in sets of 3 per mat for senior bouts

Bout - Draw developer:

  • Responsible to the Tournament Director
  • A vital role to establish the bouts on weight categories and belt grades. Interclub competitions will generally be run on a round robin basis.

Recorders:

  • They will call players to the mat, fill in the results on the sheets and manage the tables.

Timekeeper/Scorers:

  • They will either display the scores, as called by the Referee, or may time the contest and hold-downs.

Weigh-in Officer:

  • Responsibility to ensure that the "Weigh-in" is conducted in a fair and orderly manner.

Booking-in Clerks:

  • Enter the names of players who have shown evidence of having been weighed-in or of being eligible for that category. They should check JFAQ membership, grade and age requirements.

Stewards:

  • Will control crowds, politely remove players from behind mat tables and contest areas. People for this job need to be adult and above all polite and tactful

Medical Officer:

  • Will be responsible to the Tournament Director for treating any injuries that may occur.
  • He/she is usually a minimum of Senior First Aid (or equivalent), or a SMA Sports Trainer Level 1, for a senior event you may wish to have access to a Paramedic, Physiotherapist, or even a Doctor.
